We are considering going into production with Forms Forms 10g (10.1.2.0.2) and Oracle 8i ( 8.1.7.4) but, we are concerned that although Oracle don't provide certification for the said combination they don't say what the risks are

Generally there is a lack of information on the actual risks/incidents that can possibly happen.

We don't wish to ignore Oracle's certification program but, it's not really helpful when faced with absence of information and major project dependancies can't be rushed.

Has anyone taken this combination into production, and if so what issues did you face ?

Many thanks.

Yes, I've seen this combination on relatively large application (~700 tables, a lot of packages, hundreds of forms and reports); it worked just fine.

More specifically, have you taken this combination into production ie. a live environment with high transaction throughput ?

Into production, yes.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to translate "high transaction throughput" into Croatian; what does it mean? Could you explain it in a few words (sentences?) so that I could answer you better, please?

Thanks for your reply; I want to know whether the forms 10g application was being used by more that 1000 users and many of the users entering a lot of data into the 8.1.7.4 database.

Also, did the database handle this without any degradation in performance?

I see ... thank you for the explanation.

Number of users is, as of today, less than 200 (by the end of the year ther should be ~1000 of them). Manually they don't enter a lot of data, but financial transactions (tens of thousands records) are loaded through SQL*Loader every day. As far as I know, nobody complains about performance.
