Hi,

I am getting the following Error during the execution of forms 9i:

FRM-90928: Positional Parameter after key on command line

Why this error come?

It is cumbersome to start OC4J instance everytime when I open and run the forms 9i.
Is there any way that I can run the form 9i without starting explicitly the OC4J instance.

ALso After setting the set separateFrame=true in formsweb.cfg file, I still get the browser for displaying the results. How should I avoid it?Please inform about this.

Thanks

Behari

How about you show us the code that is giving the error? PLEASE format the code using the link in the sticky and use the 'code' tags to keep the format.

Start the OC4J and LEAVE IT RUNNING. You need to have either the Developer Server or an Application Server running to run 9i.

9i is a browser based application. You have to have an IE (or other) browser in which to run the JInitiator.

Hi,

Actually I just create a simple block using the emp table connecting as a scott and after that When I ran the form I got this message :FRM-90928: Positional Parameter after key on command line.

Regarding forms 9i browser base environment, suppose if we go to deploy the forms 9i based application on client what should we do if client say, we can prefer client/server environment.
Could you please suggest us about it?

Thanks

You please save the form in a directory which is not a long name directory and try to run. The error will not appear.

Don't use Forms 9 or 10, or JDeveloper, or HTML_DB unless they want to run the database, applcation server, and application on a single PC. Go back to either 4.5 or 6.0 Forms.

Hi,

Could you please let me know that how should I move the .fmx file?
In which file I get changes so the next time when ever I run the form the .fmx file will generate in a particular location.

As well as Is forms 6i still be useful for c/s base development?

thanks

If you have the same platform for your development and production Application Servers then you can copy the .fmx files. Otherwise, you have to copy the .fmb, .pll, .old, .mnb files to your production machine and recompile and regenerate them.

I don't think that 6i is supports C/S mode. Forms 6.0 will open most 6i and 9i Forms. I haven't found the exceptions yet but it is probably more to do with database datatypes than anything in the form itself.

@others: does or does not 6i support C/S?

Okay ... I just reread the http://download-west.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/forms/forms/A73073_01.pdf
Quote:

Oracle Forms Developer and Oracle Reports Developer
Guidelines for Building Applications
Release 6 i
January, 2000
Part No. A73073-02

It talks about the option of using C/S or 3-tier. So I must assume that 6i supported C/S.

Sorry to have possibly mislead you.

If you use Forms 6i then make sure you use either Patchset 16 or 17, everything between patchsets 5 and 15 have 'issues'.

Hi,

How could we find that our forms 6i need patches in order to run properly on windows 2000 Server?
I have a metalink account, what type of patch of forms 6i I need and how should I download it and then apply to forms 6i from METALINK?
After applying required patch does forms 6i works properly in the future?

Thanks

For Patches - sign in to metalink, select the 'Patches & Updates' tab, press 'Simple Search', select 'Product or Family' from first drop-down list, press 'Search-Light' and select 'Database and Tools', type 'Forms, and press 'Go', select 'Developer', then back on main page, in the Release box select 'Developer 6i' and in platform select your Window version, and press 'Go'.

Unfortunately, I can find on the Oracle website neither the download for Froms and Reports 6i nor the major upgrade patches, only the specific problem patches. You may need to chase around other developer shops and see if you can get a copy of 6i that was downloaded some years ago.

I have never used Windows 2000 server, but assume that it is similar to Windows 2000 Professional in terms of installation. All you can do is try it and see what happens.

It terms of the future, I strongly suggest either finding a version of Forms you like (we use Forms 4.5) and stick with it even if it does have limitations, or move to the latest version or HTMLDB or JDeveloper.
